Can you Keep a Secret?

It happened when I was all by myself.

Well, I wasn’t completely alone. My dog, Max was with me. He’s the only one who knows the truth about his crazy fifty-something-year-old biped mom.

Fun With Q’s

wikiballoonSorry, this isn’t Sheldon Cooper’s “Fun with Flags,” but the following game is better.

I’ve been dealing with a lot of heavy life issues these days, and it’s difficult to come up with light material for the blog. My theme here is to dig deep into the human psyche, but also add a little humor. I’m struggling with the latter right now, as I grieve loved ones.

So, I saw this list of fun questions on facebook and thought I’d play around with them on my blog. It’s the lighter side and a nice break from my heavier last few posts about loss.

I’d love for people to join in. If you’d like, copy them and answer on your blog, or pick your favorite question on this list and answer in the comment section. I’d love to learn more about my blogging friends.

Return to the scene of a Valentine’s Day non-Date

I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day. I feel like it’s a superficial way to force couples to remember each other. And, somehow it seems like it’s all the man’s responsibility to do something to celebrate. Anyway, I prefer when the love flows naturally. We ignore the holiday by attending a fun filled food affair (can you tell I like alliterations?).

Do you like Funny Words?

This is the full photo on the background of my blog.
This is the full photo on the background of my blog.

Remember the Seinfeld episode when Jerry liked to say the word “salsa?” I didn’t realize until then that there are words that I like to say too. There’s something about the way they roll of the tongue and through the lips.

A State Fair, Valentine Pretzel Delight, by the Amish Baking Company.

I started blogging a little over a year ago, so here’s the link to the blog post of the 1st annual scenes from a Valentine’s Day non-date

This is actually about the 22nd annual non-date on Valentine’s Day for us as a married couple, but I’ve only been a blogger since the last two.

Isaac and Frank

Well, I originally planned to share photos of blowing palm trees from Isaac today, but he decided to pass by in the distance and just wave ‘hello.’ It’s a typical tropical rainy day here. Fine by me, but safe prayers and wishes go out to New Orleans and the other gulf states.

Nothing more than these type of skies, and a bit of blowing rain for three days.

Now onto the news about the other fella I mentioned … Frank. Continue reading “Isaac and Frank”

A Baseball Birthday

Come join us for my husband’s 50th birthday surprise … a weekend of baseball at the bay. The Rays opening weekend at Tropicana Field against the Yankees.

First, we checked in at a historical hotel built in 1925. Formerly the Pennsylvania, it is now a Courtyard by Marriott.

Scenes from a Valentine’s Day non-date …

… with my husband. Every year on Feb. 14 we go to the Florida State Fair. It’s just another day to us because we’d go there whether the holiday existed or not. Remember I talked about eating Fair food? Well, keep scrolling.  (No actual food photos, but plenty of kiosks. Btw, I keep forgetting to bring my camera and we took them from a phone. Please forgive the quality. I’m usually much more picky with my quality photos but had no choice.)

This is what it looked like at dusk when we first arrived. Click continue below for more photos.
