Greatest Lessons

“It isn’t easy at first, but one of the greatest gifts you could ever give someone who makes your heart soar is the freedom to learn their own lessons, at their own pace.

Even trickier is discovering that one of the greatest gifts you could give someone who gets on your nerves is the freedom to learn their own lessons, at their own pace.

And perhaps most challenging of all is understanding that one of the greatest gifts you could ever give yourself is the understanding that your heart soaring and [or] your nerves fraying have never been dependent upon other people and their lessons.”

~ Mike Dooley, The Complete Notes from the Universe

  1. Great message. I know someone who insists on inserting themselves into other people’s lives when they should just back off. In essence, infantilizing grown adults. Trying to save them from themselves and it never works.

    1. It’s difficult for someone to realize they’re inserting themselves, especially if they’re co-dependent and don’t know how to introspect. I’ve run into some of that myself. Thanks for the comment. Have a great weekend. 🙂
