Random Observations

(For use of any photos, please attribute to Lori and this website)

I have a few observations that are a continuation of my last batch. First, a reminder of those.

Last week’s observations:
~ Some people believe that 2 plus 2 equals 5 and cannot be convinced otherwise.
~ I must learn to pick my battles and not bother with those who do not wish to be convinced that 2 plus 2 equals 4.

Today’s observations:
~ People who believe that 2 plus 2 equals 5 are usually the angriest and loudest.
~ People become loud and angry against the truth because they don’t know how to face it. In other words, they can’t handle the truth.
~ The truth will set us free, but it will make us miserable first.

Disclaimer: These observations are random and may be non-related to one another. They are not facts, just a simple human’s observations. People change, we grow, and as such, so does the world.

  1. I understand that … the truth makes us miserable – we always say that we want the truth – but when we get … we don’t want to hear it and especially if the truth is about us and maybe not what we would like to hear.

    1. Exactly, Viveka. But once we get the chance to let the truth settle a bit, we are able to move forward with out lives a little easier. At least that’s the way it has happened for me. Thanks for you comment.

        1. Hi ladies! 🙂 me too… presented in a good way, the truth is always best, even when we don’t like it. Presentation is really important … I don’t want to feel “bad” about something I didn’t know or realize.

          1. Yes, I have learned over the years that a tactful truth is best. However, a counselor once told me, just because you tell someone the truth (nicely) doesn’t mean they’re going to jump up and down for joy and thank you. 😉

            1. Hahaha! That’s resistance and people do things for very specific reasons. Some, as you may know, are neatly imbedded and they never gave it thought, others are hiding and they don’t realize it. Yet still others make a person feel vulnerable and the want to protect themselves from feeling that transparent. There’s a myriad of reasons for it…

I had a family friend tell me something and at the time, I remained quiet. A month later I thanked her because she was right. I had never thought about it from that perspective before. Give people time to see what we see… it takes time. 🙂 As you know…

  2. I’ve never hear that before but “The truth will set us free, but it will make us miserable first.”, being a Sagi, I may have signed up for that one though, so I have only myself to blame 🙂

    1. The truth sometimes hurts, and that’s why it can make us miserable at first. Once we know a truth though, it can help us to move forward. Does a Sagi, mean that you are a Sagittarius? I’m Libra and truly fit the sign. If things are off balance, I feel like it’s chaos. 😉

      1. Yes, Sagittarius, which like Libra with the scales to balance [I can just see you trying to rebalance your scales to accommodate a “gift” of truth into your life 😉 ] has 2 parts – feet on the ground, arrow shooting into the air. However, for Sagi’s the it’s not the truth of what they hear that makes them miserable sometimes, they’re ok with that – Sagi’s love truth and think it makes the world a better place! It’s their duty to tell the truth, and sometimes the recipient isn’t too happy about hearing it! So you and I both have reasons, but different, for that saying to resonate with us 🙂

        1. Ahh, yes, I certainly can relate to this about telling the truth. Once a counselor said to me, “Just because you tell someone the truth, don’t expect them to thank you.” I guess I thought I was doing them a favor, but I learned differently. 😉

And yes, it does take some re-balancing when I learn the truth about something. I usually get those scales balanced off eventually though. Heh. Thanks for explaining, EllaDee.

  3. Yes, please pick your battles. I don’t do “anger people” very well is what I call them. I can’t relate to them at all and feel the polar opposite in all my psyche, so get a bit uncomfortable and totally remove myself from engaging them. hah

  4. We’re just so darned afraid of being wrong that we must proclaim our rightness…loudly! Yup, still happens…only human. Working on it. The Truth is that I haven’t noticed that the world’s ended and I’ve been wrong LOTS! Thanks, Lori! xoM

  5. I agree with you. So does Max Ehrmann, who wrote Desiderata in 1927. One line I often think of is “Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.”
