My heroes are just everyday people who work hard, are honest and have integrity. ~ Jordin Sparks

Why do we call celebrities, “stars?” I mean, from my perspective, everyone has a light inside them.

Anyone can be famous these days. They don’t have to do anything extraordinary. In fact, they can do something absolutely moronic in a thirty second video and turn into the most sought after person in the world.

My favorite kinds of stories to read and to write are about extraordinary people living what appears to be ordinary lives.

Another Celebration!

On August 10th I celebrated my 100th post. Now, nine months and 118 posts since I started blogging, I finally reached 10,000 hits! I also recently surpassed 200 followers at 204!

I love blogging. I love meeting bloggers. I had no idea how much time it would take up in my life, and for a while, it took away lots of my writing time. I may eventually cut back to one or two blogs per week, but for now I’m still too obsessed to slow it down. Continue reading “Another Celebration!”

Random Observations

(For use of any photos, please attribute to Lori and this website)

Today’s observations: Continue reading “Random Observations”

Yes, I know that not everybody loves Raymond, but I do. It now equals my other longtime number one favorite, The Dick Van Dyke Show. Continue reading “TV with a Heart”

A 100th Post Celebration

Not quite eight months ago, I started this blog as a means to market my short story anthology, and ended up getting completely addicted to blogging. I had no idea when I started this endeavor, how much I’d enjoy it, and how many wonderful people I’d meet. It’s a social network all it’s own. I don’t even use those other ones except to post my blog link. Continue reading “A 100th Post Celebration”

Want to start a Writer’s Group?

Four and a half years ago, I set out to start a writer’s critique group with some people I met at a community writing class. It fizzled out within three months. Directly after it went awry, I got an email from the teacher of that class informing me of a critique group starting up at the local Barnes & Noble.

I’ve been part of that writer’s critique group for four years now. It’s been one of the biggest blessings in my life. At the same time, it’s difficult to keep a writer’s group strong and steady.

Being part of a writer’s group has its good & bad points. Continue reading “Want to start a Writer’s Group?”
