A Special Thursday

I apologize to those of you who have read this before. I’ve actually posted it two other times . . . for sentimental reasons. Thank you for indulging me. Happy Easter to those celebrating and have a great weekend everyone.

Some people might remember their passed-away loved ones, on special days like their birthday, or on the day they died. I tend to remember my Grandma on this Thursday every year. It’s not her birthday which is September 13th, nor is it the day she died, December 4th.  It’s also not this date, April 13th, that has any significance. It is today … a Holy day … the Thursday before Easter, that always brings back sweet memories of my Grandma. Continue reading “A Special Thursday”

Just Think

Does anyone ever think?lookout-over-mt wm

This isn’t a complaint post about stupid or rude people. And, I’m not asking if people think about jobs, daily chores, or to set their DVR.

I mean, does anyone ever think deeply and wonder about their place in the world? Didn’t philosophers once ponder the meaning of life? Does anyone ever do that these days?

The True Story of …

I mentioned in my Writer’s Process post that I have a novel in the works about a modern day prophet. Below I’m sharing with you the opening pages. In order not to break up the flow, this is a longer blog post than usual.

The entire novel won’t be written for some time, but I’m curious if you find it understandable. I’ve been told by my writer’s critique group that they need more information, but I didn’t want to do an info dump. More details will come throughout the plot line. Let me know what you think. Thanks, and hope you enjoy it.

Writing to Inspire

Insight does not come through striving or stress, grasping for answers or polling others for advice. I need only become quiet and still, and look to the kingdom within. ~ Excerpt from the Daily Word, A Unity Publication

In the 90’s, I went through a period of deep spiritual seeking. I had two major questions I needed answered at that time.
1) Why did so many things about the Christian religion I was raised in feel uncomfortable to me?
2) Though I believed profoundly in God’s all-encompassing goodness, why would S/He deal me a childless hand?

I sought answers for those two questions in two ways.

Longing for Simpler Times

Man is an overcomplicated organism. If he is doomed for extinction, he will die out for want of simplicity. ~ Ezra Pound

Life is different today than it was in my youth, and it doesn’t seem to have improved. Daily life is more stressful, complicated, and quite frankly, corrupt. A type of innocence is lost.

I understand that life is not just black and white like the photos on this blog post, but humans tend to make things way more complicated than necessary.

It’s satisfactory not to be responsible, or even pay bills. In fact, having values or morals, whether related to religion or not, seems to be treated as passé or unenlightened. Traditional values have disappeared to the point where even the traditional family is looked upon as small-minded. Continue reading “Longing for Simpler Times”

I Wept

Yes, I wept for our world today.

I pray and meditate every morning to start my day off with a clear head. This morning I did a little something different, I fell to the floor in tears to beseech Divine guidance for not only me, but the world. What is it we need to do to be at peace? What is it we need to do to keep the liberty that our Creator gave us from the time of our inception?

Originally I had a more light-hearted blog planned for today, but I feel a darkness hovering over our world that I can’t shake. I felt a strong pull to express my questions and concerns.

It’s been said that the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same things over and over while expecting different results. This is what humanity seems to do … keep repeating history. Are we humans insane? Continue reading “I Wept”

Grandma’s Thursday

I hadn’t planned on posting this Thursday, but then decided I wanted to share something special to me.

Some people might remember their loved ones who’ve past away on their birthday, or on the day they died. I tend to remember my Grandma on this Thursday every year. It’s not her birthday which is September 13th, nor is it the day she died, December 4th.  It’s also not this date, April 5th, that has any significance.
