Lately it’s been bothering me when someone is dismissive of emotions. I’ve even seen people be dismissive of their own feelings.

Contentment, Resentment, Darkness, Joy
I’ve written blog posts and also read other bloggers posts about what triggers a memory? A place. A scent. A song.
Feelings. Nothing More than Feelings.
Question: Who is responsible for your feelings? Me? You? Society?
I’d seriously like an answer to the question, but now I have some that are rhetorical.
If your next-door neighbor hated you and called you all kinds of names, and you did nothing to them to warrant such behavior, would that hurt your feelings?
What if somebody in line at a grocery store made a rude remark about your appearance? Or someone on social media wrote a personal attack? Would you get hurt feelings?
Sore Spot
Every time I think I know who I am, life throws me a curveball and I’m whacked up side the head.
Writing Emotion
Emotion.
That’s what I write about. It’s a human thing that fascinates me.
Emotional Manipulation
It’s called a crime of passion if a man catches his wife being unfaithful and then murders her lover.
It’s called a crime of passion if a woman catches her husband being unfaithful and murders him.
Does the term “crime of passion” make the act of murder palatable? Do we make it okay to commit murder because they loved and trusted their spouse and they merely reacted from hurt and betrayal?
Of course not.
They made their decisions out of pure emotion. Could our society be making decisions from emotion, and in turn, ruining our lives?
What to do with all these Emotions
As I write this, my emotions are running high. I’m trying to stop and think more clearly . . . figure out how to settle these emotions down.
Distractions
Have you ever needed a distraction . . . a task or entertainment to get your mind off of something? Continue reading “Distractions”

Five Stages. Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance.
Humanity’s Inhumanity
My post today partners with my last one, about media influence on emotions. Bear with me, I’m going deep, and what I say may sound odd at first.
Can’t Think Straight
Have you ever experienced times when there is so much going on that you can’t even think straight? How about when you’re emotional about something? Have you ever been so angry your emotions took over and your mind froze? How about grief? Have you ever been deep in sadness and no thoughts mattered . . . only your grief mattered?
An Inappropriate Analogy
It’s been a while since I shared an introspective post, so here’s a “thinker” demonstrated in an analogy.

Imagine if every day at work you have to sit next to someone who has really bad body odor. The odor is nauseating. You put an air freshener at your station, but then it smells like a cow died in a flower garden. You don’t know what to do. You contemplate different ideas. Should I tactfully bring it up? Should I talk to the boss to see if there is anything that can be done? Continue reading “An Inappropriate Analogy”
Give and Receive
This is being written off the cuff, so bear with me.
I don’t have a lot of time for blogging this month, so this will be brief. I’m feeling emotional and confused about humans today. Continue reading “Give and Receive”
Intuition vs. Emotion
The true profession of man is finding his way to himself. ~ Hermann Hesse
Sensitivity. Yeah, I’ve got that.
I have a high sensitivity to emotion, both my own and other people’s. In fact, I used to often hear the phrase, “You’re too sensitive.”
Sticks and Stones
Our ultimate freedom is the right and power to decide how anybody or anything outside ourselves affect us. ~ Stephen R. Covey
“Sticks and Stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.” was something I mentioned in a post I wrote over a year ago. A few people had contacted me afterward, about how horrible that saying is, and that it shouldn’t be said anymore.
Recently, I saw a lecture online discussing that very phrase and saying it was a good thing. As usual, this got me to analyzing. Since my blog is mostly about introspection, let’s examine this from both sides.
Take My Problems Back
I’ve been somewhat absent from the blogging world lately, because my husband and I have been going through some tough times. Continue reading “Take My Problems Back”
Look Mom, No Casts!
I hadn’t planned on a post today, but we got some great news at the doctor’s office.
Feels Like Home
I subscribe to, and have been published in the magazine Angels on Earth. They usually put one recipe in each issue. One of those quarterly recipes called my name, because not only was it chicken soup, which I love, but it was shared by an Italian family. Its ingredients reminded me of something my own Italian family might make. Continue reading “Feels Like Home”
