Popping In

I’m popping in to wish everyone a blessed new year.

I hope you all had a nice Christmas.

We had a few inches of snow last week. When the snow stopped, it rained ice, which topped everything with a nice sheet of slippery stuff.

I had to chisel off the ice from our bird feeder, but the critters are still eating well. Take a look at this chubs below.The extra weight is keeping him warm from that falling snow around him.How ’bout this well-fed chickadee? I haven’t seen his kind around here before, and now they’re coming to our yard in bunches. They’re eating good here. Anyone know what kind?

This week is a tough one for me. I lost someone a year ago at this time. I’ll be posting about that on Friday. Also, my chronic pain has reached a new high. I’m pretty much off my feet this week.Despite all the tangled branches, I’m still grateful for the semblance of light shining in between. I’m blessed to have a wonderful husband and a comfortable home to spend time recovering.

  5. Lori, piercing light in the last photo is mesmerising – just wonderful. The bird is so cute and puffed up and how sweet of you to knock the ice off the feeders for them. I’m sorry your pain is worse and only hope it lessens soon. Take extra special care of yourself. xx

    1. Hi Lynnette. Yep, I looked up Junco and that’s what they are. I’ve never seen them around here before, but I never had a bird feeder before either. There are a lot of them now.

  7. That looks like a junco to me. They are also called snowbirds because they come down from more northern regions during the winter for food. We see them here in Pennsylvania around October until March-ish.
