So, I was sitting out in the gorgeous weather enjoying a little color . . . when I spotted another color above me in the tree. π
I thought male cardinals were red and female cardinals were a duller, reddish-brown, but this sweet thing was bright orange.
It certainly has the head of a cardinal, so maybe it’s not fully grown into its color yet?
He stayed there for about thirty minutes cleaning and grooming himself.
He raised his wing here a little and it almost looks transparent. π While I snapped pictures, he seemed to know what I was doing and continued on with his business as if in his own reality show.
Perfect temperature (75f, 24c) over the weekend, perfect colors, perfect outdoor grilled steak dinner.
And today comes some chilly weather again (50f, 10c). That’s okay, it’s not winter temps and it will get warm soon enough. I actually enjoy cool weather after over two decades living in incessant heat all year round.
How was your weekend?
This post and the flowers and foliage photos are gorgeous! A huge wow about the cardinals. Great capture! I love how you shared your βperfectβ weekend, Lori. I am glad our paths crossed.π

I know, right? I’m so shocked at the bright orange color of this guy. He’s been back visiting some more, and I love seeing him.

We don’t see those birds ’round these parts. And what a lot of color you have in your world! Last weekend was warm here (70). Today it snowed. La la la…spring.

Hi Kathy. Yeah, it got cold here again, but no snow. You are just a tad farther north than me, though. π I don’t think my colorful tulips are going to make it overnight. π
Good to “see” you, Miss. Stay well and warm.

What beautiful flowers!! And what great photos of your visitor! He just fits right in with your color scheme, doesn’t he?

Hi L. So true, my visitor matched my color scheme. I’m going to have to name this guy. He visited again today. Hope my tulips make it through the next couple of days, because it’s supposed to get cold. Thanks for checking out my color scheme.

A beautiful little visitor. I love the peacefulness of this post, Lori, the appreciation of the simple beauty of spring, the joy of nature’s colors, spring’s warmth, and fresh air and delicious food. Thanks for the smile. π

Since I took those photos, the same guy has visited me again. We’ve become great pals. Thanks for the nice comment, Diana.

Wow! Orange cardinals (and yellow ones, too) are quite rare. You had a very special visitor to your yard. Maybe a sign of good things to come. π

I had no idea that orange (and yellow?) cardinal(s) existed? How cool that I got a visit. The year 2020 started with losing Max and then right into the virus scare. I’m ready for good things to come. π

Yes, they do. π Isnβt nature wonderful? The yellow ones are really almost neon.

I’d be really shocked if I saw a yellow one.

Beautiful! I would love to see a real cardinal one day. I never have – not yet.

Don’t they have cardinals by you, Anneli? I guess I have to live through your eagle photos and you can live through my cardinal photos. Although, you have much more wildlife to share with me than I do with you. π

No cardinals, no bluejays (only steller’s jays).

You have a lot of a variety of other birds, though. And those eagles . . . π¦

Yes, we do, but I would love to see a cardinal.

This is gorgeous. I dream of seeing colourful birds and put nuts out all the time but they seem to be very drab here in Ireland. We have a nest of magpies in the garden: just about the most boring birds that exist! I get very excited when I see the anorexic robin that visits the garden now and again, but I fear he’s disappeared …

I understand what you mean about the boring birds. When I grew up here, all I saw were the crows and robins. After we moved away and then moved back, it changed!
Thanks for sharing, DS.

What a beauty he is Lori! The weather here hasn’t changed for weeks – warm, dry, sunny, we could do with a bit more rain!

He really is a beauty, Andrea. Seems unusual for your weather to be warm, dry, and sunny. It’s nice to get a mix. You and are alike in that we like the changes in weather. Hope you get some replenishing rain soon. Stay well.

Wow! I’m glad you captured some photos of the cardinal, Lori. There are reports of orange cardinals, but they are very rare to see…nice! Your tulips are still looking gorgeous. We’ve got cold weather coming too…you know I don’t like that!

I didn’t even know that there was such a thing as orange cardinals. The cardinals seem to like our neighbor’s tree that is right up against our fence. I love when they visit.
Are your hummingbirds hanging around lately? Stay safe and warm out there in NC.

Yes! The hummies are back, but no madness yet. We have to wait until things heat up a bit. I love cardinals, too. I put sunflower seeds on our patio for them every day. Sometimes they’ll sit out there looking at the kitchen window chirping to get my attention. It’s the little thing! π

Ooh. Cool. I’ll have to try sunflower seeds. Thanks for the tip.
