Fun With Q’s

wikiballoonSorry, this isn’t Sheldon Cooper’s “Fun with Flags,” but the following game is better.

I’ve been dealing with a lot of heavy life issues these days, and it’s difficult to come up with light material for the blog. My theme here is to dig deep into the human psyche, but also add a little humor. I’m struggling with the latter right now, as I grieve loved ones.

So, I saw this list of fun questions on facebook and thought I’d play around with them on my blog. It’s the lighter side and a nice break from my heavier last few posts about loss.

I’d love for people to join in. If you’d like, copy them and answer on your blog, or pick your favorite question on this list and answer in the comment section. I’d love to learn more about my blogging friends.

These are the first 10 questions of 41. I’ll save the rest for when I need lighter material again.

1.Are you named after someone? – Nope. My mom got to name me her favorite name, and my dad got to name my brother. My middle name was passed down from Mom though.
2. When was the last time you cried? Crying a lot lately, because we’ve lost some close family members.
3. Do you like your handwriting? Not really.
gabagool4. What is your favorite lunch meat? I was going to say gabagool, which is our Italian-American way of saying, capicola, but I actually like salami better. Unfortunately, it’s not healthy, so I don’t have it often.
5. Do you have any kids? Ack. No. Too old and exhausted.
6. If you were another person, would you be friends with you? For sure. We could be sarcastic together. See next question.
7. Do you use sarcasm? Me? Naww, never.
8. Do you still have your tonsils? They were gone by age five.
9. Would you bungee jump? Hell no.
10. What is your favorite cereal? I don’t care for cereal, but on occasion I’ll have Raisin Bran Crunch and pick out half the raisins. They put in way too many.

  1. Lori, nice diversion! I liked your answers. I don’t have my tonsils either. When I was young, the protocol was to yank them out before they had a chance to cause trouble. I had mine out when I was maybe 2 or 3. All I remember was the ice cream afterward. Ice cream when it wasn’t your birthday was unheard of! Am I old or what!!??

    1. Yeah, they used to yank those tonsils out young. They had been causing trouble for me. I was sick all the time, and once they were out, that stopped happening.Thanks for reading and sharing a little something about you.

  2. Some times we need distraction from big issues, by switching our focus to lighter we see better when we return to them. Interesting questions, they are a fun exercise because we often know the larger picture of a person without the everyday details. Me, I hate cereal but love good, preferably, homemade muesli. I still have my tonsils, I have no idea why I was named… no-one living can remember, and it’s not a common name of that time & place.
    Do you think sarcasm is lost on current generations, they are so into literal… and emojis 😉

    1. Hi EllaDee. Shows how bright I am, I never even heard of muesli. I had to look it up. Ha. It looks sort of like granola with oatmeal. I think you may be right about sarcasm being lost on current generations. Nothing can be joked about anymore in this overly PC world. As I said to Jill, I think women outgrow cereal, but my husband sure hasn’t. Thank you for reminding me that it’s good to have a distraction from big issues. MIL’s memorial is this weekend.

  3. That photo is gorgeous, Lori! Did you take it? I recently did a jigsaw puzzle that was very similar. I don’t care for cereal either, but I used to love Captain Crunch, with no milk, when I was in college.

    1. Hi Jill. No, that is not my photo. That one is from wiki. I try to remember to put my watermark on my photos. When I was a kid I liked 2 cereals, Apple Jacks and Golden Grahams. I think we women outgrow cereal, but not men. Well, at least my husband. He still eats Captain Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, etc. Blech!

  4. Life is a hard journey, but when you do reach the flat ground on your trail again and you feel like you can breath without pain the little things that fill each moment become that much more special, and appreciated; maybe that is the gift those we love who leave give us.
