Farewell to the Artists

Today I thought we’d have a little fun with photography and art.

Three years ago I posted my first blog about the annual art fair in March here in Florida. Whew! It was overbearingly hot. Lots of shorts and flip-flops below.

arthot (800x410) wmThe following year I posted about the art fair again, only this time the weather was the polar opposite, literally. Cold as cold can be in Florida.

The third year I posted about it, we finally got a Goldylocks day … the weather was just right.

This year, we once again found ourselves in a weather shift. Rain, rain, pouring rain.

artrain2 (800x521) wmSince it was likely our last year to attend, we decided to try it anyway. (If you missed the post about the big move news, you can read it here.) We even brought our dog, Max. When we arrived it was a light drizzle, but only about fifteen minutes went by before it started to pour.

artrain4 (800x515) wmWe sought refuge under the canopy of a city building and waited. And waited. Waited some more.

artrain (800x490) wmAfter about twenty minutes, someone checked the radar on their IPhone and showed all of us who were taking cover. It didn’t look good. Sigh. We didn’t get much viewing time in, but we’ve been there many times before.

Due to our move out of state, we bid farewell to those wonderful art fair experiences in March in Florida, where the city welcomed so many talented artists.

  1. Wearing flip-flops in March?! What wouldn’t I give to be able to do that? I love going to fairs (if they are not too crowded – the crowds at your fairs look manageable) – thanks for sharing with us.

    1. Ahh yes, that is one of the few things I like about it here, weather nice enough to attend fairs in February & March. Thank you for coming along Zambian Lady.

    1. Hi Lorna. That’s a good question. I hate to be repetitive, but I always tell people the same thing. There are only 3 things I like about Florida, January, February & March. In those three months is when they hold all the festivals here, so I enjoy those while the weather is good. Hmm, does that answer the question? See, you don’t have to be blonde to be dizzy. 😉

  5. With your imminent move it’s wonderful that you have a record not only in photos but your written musings of your time in Florida. You’ve certainly captured the fickleness of the weather! The art is extraordinary 🙂 Knowing that we were planning one day to leave the city I’d been going to take photos knowing they’d mean something later on but until I started blogging I never got around to it.

    1. Such great points, EllaDee. I’ve been wanting to move out of state for so long, I didn’t think I’d miss anything here, but I’m finding that I will. I’m very surprised at this grieving that has popped up, but I thought about just what you commented. I have a record of my time here now. Thanks so much.

    1. I’m starting to realize I’ll miss a lot of things about here. I didn’t think that would happen, because I’ve wanted to move for a long time now. But, in saying goodbye to the old memories, I can look forward to making new ones. Thanks for checking out my days at the art fest.

    1. Hi Anneli. We’ll be heading up there in about 2 months. The stress is already getting to me and we haven’t even started packing yet. 😛 Can’t wait until we’re settled.

    1. Yes, I ran out of new weather patterns, and it’s certainly not going to snow here, so I guess it’s time to head home (to our new digs). We won’t be leaving for a couple of months yet. There’s a lot to do. I’m dreading the stress it’ll bring, but look forward to being settled there.

        1. Yes, SD. And, we figured that arriving at that time of year, it would give us space to gradually readjust to the weather. We’ve been in Florida for more than 2 decades. Do you still live in the area?

            1. Oh, thanks for letting me know. Thought I might get to meet you if you were in Chicago. I lived the first half of my life in the Chicago burns. Second half in Florida. Looks like the later part of my life is taking me full circle.
