Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away at us all but the things that cannot be torn so that we see ourselves as we really are. ~ Arthur Golden
I’m posting my wisdom quote planned for today, but seeing that some adversity has come up in my life, I thought I’d add a brief bit more.
Yesterday, Thursday, I received a call from my husband who said he fell at work. He thought he sprained his ankle and his coworkers were taking him to the hospital near his work to get x-rayed. He needed me to pick him up and take him home.
I drove the 20 miles to the hospital, and found him in horrifically bad shape. To make this brief, he didn’t have a sprained ankle. He fell off a mezzanine at work and landed on his feet. They both promptly shattered to pieces. He has a high pain tolerance for sure, but I know he’s still suffering.
We’ll get through this eventually, and frankly, we’re grateful it wasn’t a spine or head injury. Perhaps I will have some learning experiences to share after I introspect with this one.
I hope to still post the last episode of Mystical Tours on Monday. I have a Surface and it works great with the hospital WiFi.
I’ll share more of what I learned from this experience one day.
Updates on his injury are on these posts in chronological order: Coping with an Injury, Grocery Shopping and Underwear, Update Central, Look Mom, No Casts, Recovery and Change.
The whole shah-bang of the experience what we learned can be found on these posts in chronological order: A Tale about Feet, Feet Tale Two, Released from Purgatory, Stretched Thin, Coming Home.
I’m so sorry your hubby suffered such awful injuries. He’ll be in my prayers.

Dear … O … Dear! Lori, what a horrifying accident – still even if it wasn’t the head or spine .. both feet. I hope of all my heart that his recovery will so painless it can be – because I have friends that have damage feet – and it will not heal over a coffee break.
My deepest thoughts goes out to you both.

Tell him not to rush … let the healing take the time it needs – because if the feet don’t get the chance to heal in their own time, there will be chance that he will have problems for the rest of his life. So let things take it’s time and just do what they what they tell him to do.
My god, he was lucky in his misfortune.

I’m so sorry to hear about his accident at work. That has to be incredibly painful. Sending lots of positive healing thoughts. It’s good to think about how much worse things could be so you have some perspective, but it still stinks for both of you to have to deal with what is.

Oh Lori, that’s awful. Your husband sounds considerate – playing down his injury so you wouldn’t drive off the road with worry. Hope he’s feeling better soon.

Hey Anneli. Between my husband’s usual positive thinking attitude, and his high pain tolerance, he truly believed it was just a sprained ankle. He even sent the ambulance away that was called, but he let his coworkers drive him to the hospital for an xray. Thank you for your hopeful wishes.
