I usually post a scheduled blog on Mondays, but I don’t have one for today. It’s not because I don’t have anything to say or any ideas. I actually have a list of topics I’d love to write about, but I haven’t had time. So, today I’m going to share with you why I haven’t had time, and I’m typing off the top of my head.
I usually lead a pretty boring life, and I like it that way. I’m one of these people who doesn’t create a busy schedule, because I tend to get panicky with too much to do. I never understand how some people can keep there lives packed with activity. But, I respect it, because if we were all exactly alike we might as well be Borg (Star Trek reference for those who aren’t familiar).
Having said that, my life is busy for the first time in ages. This time I’m very happy about it. I’m working diligently to get my WIP edited and out to my beta readers by November 21st. They’ve already read the first twenty chapters, and there are thirteen more for them to read.
There are two reasons I need it done before the 21st. 1) I don’t want them to forget what they’ve already read. 2) My mom arrives for the holiday on that day and I’m looking forward to taking time for the visit.
A few days after my mom arrives, my brother will be here too. He has not been to visit me since he was single and wore a mullet. I’m not exactly sure of the year, but since he had a mullet, I’m pretty sure it was around 1991. Now, he’s married for ten years and has three sons (oldest is eight, and twin sons age six). His wife has never been to my home.
If I’m being honest, we aren’t the closest family. If you talk to my brother, you might get a different story though. Again, I respect our differences and get on with my life. However, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to have a family in my home for Thanksgiving. For all of my married life, we have to travel to be with family on holidays. As a result, we’ve had many holidays alone because we either couldn’t afford to travel or grew weary of it.
I’ll be able to share my home with my nephews for the first time. It’ll likely be the only time, but hopefully it’ll be a joyous memory for all of us to remember forever.
I’m also working with my writer’s critique group, and need to get to critiquing. So, I’m off. The coming days may be scarce for me, but I miss blogging too much, so I might pop in. I love reading your blogs too. I see you in my email box and can’t resist visiting, but might not be able to for a bit.

When we lived in Illinois, we usually hosted the Thanksgiving dinners because we lived “in the middle” of all my family. So it made the drive similar for everyone. Pulling them off to my standards was demanding, though, and I was usually exhausted on Friday!
Just remember not to get so caught up in “the prep work” that you don’t get to visit with everyone. You want to enjoy the visit, too, after all.
Those novels take time, especially if we can’t focus all our time on them. Most of us have day jobs and other commitments. And we need to take the time to make them the best they can be. So if blogging has to take a back seat, that’s okay.

Yes, I hope that the holiday turns out to be as I picture in my head, but well…I we’re far from a Norman Rockwell picture. One thing I’m concerned about is my dog Max. He’s not really good with kids. IOW, he doesn’t like them. I have some ideas on how to try and make it work though. Hopefully, you’ll get the remaining chapters by the end of next week.

Typing off the top of my head posts can be great – it’s good to just say things as they are 🙂
One of the many great things about blogging is it is elective. If to undertake it there was a schedule or madatory requirements, it wouldn’t be appealing. It fits in with our lives not vice versa.
You sound busy, but with good things – the WIP and a special family visit.

I’m supposed to keep up my blog for marketing purposes as an author. Plus,it’s the only social media I enjoy. I despise keeping up with the other places (fb, and the twit), so I’m not very good at those. BTW, you should be receiving the remaining 13 chapters next week some time. Thank you, Miss EllaDee.

How wonderful that you’ll have your family with you on Thanksgiving, but I know how much work that involves, so it’s easy to see why you’ll be so busy. Oh, and that little thing called your WIP–yeah, that can take up some time. 😉 Good luck with it!
