The past ten days I ran into some bad mojo. Everything was going wrong. I say ‘was’ because I refuse to let the bad ‘mo’ continue into this week.
I’ll start with the title of the blog.
I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, because WordPress gives me a free blog. However, I’d like to type out a train of profanity right now over the troubles I’m having with this blog site.
All of you fantastic bloggers that I follow, please don’t think I’m missing in action. For some reason I am not receiving email notifications when new blog posts go up. I know I can check the reader, but I don’t have time to scroll through all of those. I just get to the ones in my email whenever time arises. I’m also not receiving notifications of comments and likes on my own blog.
This has been going on for a week now. I’ve been to the WordPress forums asking about it several times. I’ve also noticed several others on those forums with the same issue. And yes, I did check my settings. They are set for me to receive notifications instantly. Sigh.
Having said that, I also had trouble with my computer crashing right in the middle of editing a chapter for my WIP. Yes, I had it backed up on two flash drives, but I couldn’t open up MS Word without any of them crashing. I was on the phone with Sony four times. Now I’m being told I have to format the computer back to the beginning, which means wiping it completely clean. We spent all weekend backing up contacts, bookmarks, etc. I just bought this laptop in November. Sigh.
My body computer is giving me issues too. In plain English, over those past ten days I wasn’t in the best of health. But, I resolve to keep all of this stuff in the past. I know they won’t disappear on their own, but I’m working on them as I put them in the past.
So, here is a bouquet for all of us for brighter days ahead.
So sorry to hear about all of the problems you’ve been experiencing, Lori. You have the right attitude by refusing to give into all the bad mojo!

Oh dear! The times where it seems like everything is going wrong definitely is not fun. In fact it so often hurts. I have no idea whether my WordPress has been working because have been on break. It was good to cut loose from the Internet for a while. It feels much more peaceful.

Good to see you back, Kathy. Glad you had a peaceful respite away from the internet. It’s my turn now to take some time away. Stay well, my friend.

Yesterday, WordPress was making me sign in to reply to comments on my own posts. That’s a new one. I’ve heard other bloggers say they’re not getting their notifications, either, and I’ll bet you this means WordPress is about to roll out a “major improvement.” These headaches usually precede those events.
Windows 8 is terrible, but I’ve heard rumors the “fix” for the next version will be to remove everything that was familiar and easy about 7. That really doesn’t help those of us who actually need to WORK on computers with real programs.
I hope you’re feeling better, and your attitude is the best way to go. Take care of yourself!

I had that happen to me with having to sign in to WordPress to comment as well. I do think Windows 8 was messing with my new computer. I wish I could remove it in favor of 7, but that’s really not an option.
Thanks for your good wishes, JM. Things are looking up.

Good call, cutting off the bad mo… turn it into ho, as is hohoho and I’m sure this week will be much better. Lori, I’m sorry to hear you’ve had some technological bad juju lately. I can relate. Windows 8 makes me sad. But, like you, I try to focus on the bright side. Without all this technology, we’d be writing by hand and sharing our thoughts with the neighbors. Much Love and better techno days ahead! Also, thanks for sharing the beautiful bouquet! 🙂 S

Windows 8 makes me sad too. When they wipe this computer clean, we’re going to see if they can replace Windows 8 with 7. Technology certainly has its glitches. Thanks for spreading the love, Sloan. Hugs.

You are not alone. I’m fighting with computer security issues and they seem to happen after clicking on WordPress links. Also, notifications of new followers keep going to my old address even though I’ve changed my address in my settings, and everything else from WordPress goes to the new one. We just have to work through it, I guess.

Technology is great, but not the glitches. Thanks for sharing your situation, Anneli. Hope they clear up for both of us asap.
