End of Week Wisdom

We must be willing to do research on the things we believe and the things we do not believe, even if it means proving ourselves wrong. ~ Author Unknown

I almost think … all of us [are] ghosts. … It’s not only what we have invited from our father and mother that walks in us. It’s all sorts of dead ideas and lifeless old beliefs, and so forth. They have no vitality, but they cling to us all the same, and we can’t [seem] to get rid of them. Whenever I take up a newspaper, I seem to see ghosts gliding between the lines. There must be ghosts all … over, as thick as the sand of the sea. And then we are, one and all, so pitifully afraid of the light. ~ Henrik Ibsen

  1. May we continually release our dead ideas and beliefs. May we continually find out who we are fresh in the moment. So we don’t scare anyone in our ghostdom. 🙂

  2. First one, check, everyday.
Second one, scary isn’t it? We can’t seem to get away from ourselves or the past no matter how hard we try! 🙂

  3. This is the basic premise of being a scientists and certainly fitting for us all. However, fat to many scream and shout their ideas without listening and naturally never study contrary facts.

  4. I love proving myself wrong 🙂 Henrik Ibsen, in his time & place would have felt those “ghosts” strongly, and influenced his work to bring reality into the light. I wonder how he would have gone in more modern times.

  5. Something to think about here, I don’t really understand what you mean … ???? We have all our ghosts, but I don’t think that is what you mean here.

    1. Hey Viveka, It may be difficult to translate from English for you, but I’ll give it a try. I believe what the author of the quote means by “ghosts” is “demons.” We all carry around past experiences that leave an impression on us. So much so that we behave in certain ways because of those past experiences/ghosts/demons.

      1. That was what I thought you meant … my Thursday post was about my ghosts.
We have all our ghosts and demons – in some form and shape. And if we don’t have any .. we are good on creating them ourselves.
