I’m not a food or recipe blogger in particular, but since my memoirs and other writings are about every day people learning every day lessons, food must be included. Not to mention that I wrote a story about how I learned to cook in my memoir anthology.
I put a recipe on this blog every now and then when it strikes my fancy, which triggers food bloggers to stop here. I usually return the favor by going to their blogs as well. In doing so, I have found some scrumptious recipes and hope to post a recipe review once a month.
This is my first recipe review. Chocolate Nutella Cake in a Mug. It may take me a while to post a recipe that I tried, so it’s been some time since Roberta posted this one.
I was a little bit leery of this cake recipe, because things that cook in the microwave don’t always have the best consistency. But, being a chocolate addict (a HUGE addict), and seeing how easy and quick this looked to make, I just HAD to try it.
Guess what? It turned out fantastic!
I didn’t change a single thing from Roberta’s recipe. The only part I might emphasize for others who would like to try it, is to make sure you use a large mug. Below is what I mean by a large mug. The one on the right is the size I needed.
It turned out super delicious, and the chocolate was just the right amount for my taste. Top it with ice cream too. Yum! I highly recommend it.

This looks divine, Lori! I don’t consider myself a gourmand by any means, but I like to try my hand at cooking every once in a while. I’m lucky to have the kitchen equivalent of a green thumb– I’ve always gotten pretty lucky that what I make turns out delicious! You’ve inspired me to begin sharing some recipes on my blog, as well.
Bon appétit!

Nice to see you again, Ed. You might like to try a recipe or two from my recipes page. A few are from my Italian family. What’s great about this mug cake is that you don’t have to heat up the oven, and it turns out just as yummy in the microwave. Enjoy, and I look forward to any recipes you share.

Oooh, that sounds delicious! I too love chocolate (who doesn’t?) as well as being a big fan of nutella. I don’t have mugs that big, but I’ve got stoneware bowls that would probably work almost as well.

I’ve added a recipe page to my blog too but I’ve only done one so far. Hopefully time will allow for more. I so want to try this. Thanks for posting!!

Great! I haven’t got a really sweet tooth but sometimes I just want SOMETHING usually when I don’t have the time or energy to make it, and store bought stuff doen’t fill that comfort craving. Particularly as our weather is cooling off this recipe looks perfect without having to bake a whole cake or dessert, and I have 2 huge teacups that would be perfect for it 🙂
