by Lori (L. Virelli)

Because I don’t see you as a victim,
you’ve made me your perpetrator.
Because I see you as empowered,
you’ve made me ignorant.
Because I don’t blame your mistakes
on anyone else,
you’ve made me to blame.
Because I see failure as an opportunity,
you’ve made me insensitive
for having faith in you,
instead of pitying you.
You are not a victim
because you are different.
Nor are you a victim
because of someone else’s ignorance.
Ignorance is merely ignorance,
and not a reflection on you.
You can only be held down
if you allow yourself to be.
The true victim is the one
who is being attacked in the
midst of a real crime.
I believe in you as an individual.
I believe that if you fail,
you can use it
as a catapult to succeed.
I believe that your uniqueness
is a recipe for success.
I believe in your inner strength,
not your skin color.
I believe in your loving heart
not your preferences.
You are an individual who has talents to share with the world.
This contributes to our unity.
But, you can only help others
after you help yourself.

No matter what your circumstance,
free your mind of perceived captivity.
Envision success and joy.
Take action.
For what you think, is what you are.
I am still determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may be, for I have learned from experience that the greatest part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances. ~ Martha Washington
Love your beautiful thoughts here – and it’s so true that .. that we are very good on creating our own ghosts and became our own worst enemy.
