Model Tree

by Lori (L. Virelli)

Like a sage, peaceful and still,
it stands strong and silent,
exuding confidence.

Flexible arms bend
in the winds of storm.
Sometimes they crack
or break away.
No worries.
It eventually grows more.

Its rich fullness blows away

but returns even more luxurious,
as if to fly in the face of adversity.

It has faith in its own nature.
It has faith in the environment
to supply its every need.

I wish to be the same,
to stand serene and secure,
among the powerful squalls
life lashes against my
mind, body and soul.

Dear Tree,
You move effortlessly in the breeze,
not resisting, but bending, ever resilient.
I long to model you,
as I strive to live from my divine nature.

  1. I’m at a stage in my life where I can appreciate the attributes you so beautifully describe in your tree because I have them too. It’s lovely to hear it put in your words.

  2. I recently wrote about trees, too. Only the one I saw flipped me off. Yours are much more lovely. 🙂

Thanks for dropping by my blog. I appreciate it.

    1. Boy, that tree in your ‘neck of the woods’ pulled off some nasty trick. Heh.I wish I would’ve thought of flipping someone off in my latest story on my home page. 😉 Thanks for coming over to check out my blog, Carrie.

  3. Lori, oh this is so lovely. I want to be like the trees, too. The wind might blow but we wouldn’t get ruffled, we’d just bend gracefully. Thank you for the inspiration.

  4. A wonderful strong and humble – you write beautiful poems … not a poem reader normally, but this I like and understand exactly what you say,

You can see it in the tree because it’s already in you.

    1. Thanks for reminding me, Nick. Struggling with accessing that part in me lately. Your response helped though, and I appreciate it. Blessings to you.
