This poem is the shortest I’ve ever written. It’s also my favorite because it’s very personal. I wrote it a long time ago and have debated whether or not to post it. I’ve decided to, because I believe we all have this very same place to escape to. Those who seek, shall find it.
A Place (I Am)
There is a place inside of me
that is still and silent.
The place feels safe.
The place feels calming.
The place deflates my tension.
My ego thoughts float away
and I am left with
the I am that I am.
Tears fill my eyes
their droplets tap my chest.
The comfort in this place
reminds me I am loved,
reminds me I am the child
in whom God is well pleased.
I am humbled.
I am exalted.
I am the I am that I am.

Lori, I love this poem and I love this place so much. This feels wise and heartful. I am exulted with you. Namaste.
Thank you for coming over to read it, Kathy. It is sometimes difficult to remember the directions to this place, but once there, it is bliss.
That’s so precious and special. And true.
Why would you debate posting it?
Some poems I write feel a scary bit personal to share publically, and this one was on the cusp. Thank you for coming over, Pete. I appreciate it, and your comment.
Aww have no fear!

Soulful is a word I think I would use for this one. Soulful.
Thank you, I like that word.
Very nice. (Sorry that nice is such an overused word, but you know what I mean.)
Yes, I do. Thanks, Anneli.
This feels like a prayer. I love it.
